Now we’re cooking. The acclaimed late ’90s/early ’00s UK band Gomez (pictured with Paul Blackburn, Ben Ottewell, Olly Peacock, Ian Ball and Tom Gray) makes a rare U.S. reunion at Royale on Friday, the same night that Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats team with Deer Tick to rock the season into gear at Blue Hills Bank Pavilion. And over at the Brighton Music Hall, Hot Snakes raise their own charismatic racket on Friday.
Saturday’s a big night with synth-rock stars Depeche Mode taking over TD Garden while alt-reggae/hip-hop band Dirty Heads keeps fans moving at Blue Hills Bank Pavilion. Also the same night: the enigmatic folk-rocker Bonnie Prince Billy plays the Wilbur and the legendary Ry Cooder rolls up to the Tupelo Music Hall in Derry, N.H.
Sunday offers three diverse highlights: vocal virtuoso Lisa Fisher (seen in backup singer documentary “20 Feet From Stardom”) returns to the Wilbur, the ace roots tandem of Dave Alvin and Jimmie Dale Gilmore pulls into City Winery and the Jazz at Lincoln Center orchestra with Wynton Marsalis honors the music of Duke Ellington in a Celebrity Series concert at Symphony Hall.
