2016 Winner: Suya Joint

Born and raised in Nigeria, chef/owner Cecelia Lizotte brings authenticity to Suya Joint, which started as a catering business; now her Roxbury brick-and-mortar offers the uninitiated a fabulous foray into Nigerian cuisine. It all starts with the eponymous suya, spicy kebabs of thinly sliced meats, but the West African comfort food encompasses traditional rice and bean plates, whole fish and hearty stews of fish, goat and fufu, or doughy dumplings, alongside a frisky martini menu.
