This kooky izakaya inside the rock ’n’ roll-themed Verb Hotel is the antithesis of all those unstylish lobby bars where sad traveling salesmen slump and get sauced. Here, cocktail-loving cool kids sip some of the city’s most interesting sake selections, including keg-based styles, amid colorful, kitschy decor seemingly designed for an anime avatar of Donna Reed. They lug tropics-evoking communal cocktails out to the pool. And they wash down midnight snacks of ramen with Japanese whisky. Ho, yes.
