This volunteer-run nonprofit is the nerve center of the city’s indie and underground scene, offering arts coverage through its Boston Hassle website and free monthly newspaper, The Boston Compass (which just notched its 100th issue). It also showcases local creators through bimonthly markets and the Dorchester Art Project—a gallery, studio and performance space—and recently opted to make most concerts at many other venues free to the under-18 set for the rest of this year, attracting the next generation of arts enthusiasts.
