This percussionist is a mover and shaker—and not just when she’s wielding maracas. Finkelmeier’s nonprofit, Kadence Arts, teaches kids to bang out rhythms and spearheads happenings like Make Music Boston, a fest that brings free performances to parks and subway stations. She’s also a co-founder of collective Masary Studios, which combines sound and visual projections in often-interactive installations. And she’s even making noise on the ’Gram with her @improvaday project, turning everyday objects into instruments while encouraging followers to find music everywhere.
