Coffee-wise, America may run on Dunkin’. But when it comes to doughnuts, we dash to a much smaller outfit: Kane’s, a family-run biz in the Financial District and Saugus. Somebody’s still waking up early to make these fresh treats daily, using local ingredients like Somerville-based Taza chocolate. And every month, they come up with inventive specials—like a tequila-spiked tribute to Cinco de Mayo and June’s gluten-free lemon poppyseed—that always get us sprinting back for seconds.
