Whoever inherited Jody Adams’ Rialto space in the Charles Hotel was going to have a tough act to follow. But when Michael Pagliarini announced he’d also be churning out high-end Italian, he welcomed an even bigger challenge by inviting some daunting comparisons to Adams’ 22-year haunt as well as to his own Cambridge restaurant Giulia, already a Boot-inspired beaut. Yet the refined rustic Benedetto excels because it is unabashedly its own. Here’s hoping it matches Rialto’s tenure.
