“I have as much equipment as Guitar Center,” admits DJ Chris Roxx—a far cry from childhood when he would sneak into his brother’s room for turntable time. Years later, he’s spun at parties with Run-DMC, Taylor Dane and Nile Rodgers, just to name a few. His style runs the spectrum, with beats designed for people to sing and dance along. But don’t expect a playlist. For Roxx, it’s all about feeling out the crowd to create a celebratory soundtrack on the fly.
