Bare Stage

Bare Stage, making its world premiere, strips away the spotlight and the glamour of theater as it tackles power imbalances and artistic freedom in the performing arts. Written by Massachusetts playwright Michael Walker, the drama focuses on a Broadway-bound show penned by a rising male director. When Kate and Rachel are cast to join the chorus of actors who will appear nude throughout the show, the women hit a vulnerable crossroads and must weigh the power of artistic agency and their own privacy. Shed your expectations when Bare Stage continues through March 2 at the Boston Center for the Arts’ Plaza Theatre. / Nathan Tavares
