'Évolution' Local Film Premiere

Starting puberty is tough on any tween, but for the boys in 2015’s Évolution, it’s downright creepy. French director Lucile Hadzihalilovic, previously known for her girls boarding school-set film Innocence, this time focuses on an island inhabited only by young boys and their older female caretakers, who routinely hospitalize the kids in mysterious medical facilities. But the entirety of the program and way of life is threatened when 10-year-old Nicolas finds a corpse off shore and enlists his friends to investigate what really goes on behind closed doors. Experience the growing pains firsthand when the film makes its area premiere at the Brattle Theatre on Dec. 2-8.
