Kings of Leon

Don’t expect a phoned-in run-through of their massive radio hits when Kings of Leon hit the Garden for a headlining show. Sure, they’ve got those in spades, but the scrappy Nashville family act made their rise from low-fi Southern party rockers to pop-chart-topping mega-stars steadily, making a slow, thoughtful transition from the loose-limbed, jangly garage rock of 2003’s Youth and Young Manhood to the streamlined, radio-friendly fare of October’s WALLS, the quartet’s seventh studio album. And while years, experience and major label dollars have polished the Kings’ rougher edges, they’ve retained ties to their rugged roots, with frontman Caleb Followill’s howling vocals tempering a more mainstream production.
