After a spot on fellow Chicagoan Chance the Rapper’s 2013 album, Acid Rap, Noname’s success erupted. First came her 2016 mixtape, Telefone, and then in September the 27-year-old dropped her full-length release, Room 25, which Noname describes as the serious, older sister to her “youthful” first musical outing. Tiptoeing on a braggadocious tone, this jazzy-blues-infused hip-hop album considers themes from the first time she had sex to her move this past year to Los Angeles.
