Resplendent in red, Obehi Janice tackles one of the world’s most famous womanizers using comedy and film. The Lowell native examines Giacomo Casanova’s libertine persona against the backdrop of #MeToo, turning her millennial Black female gaze upon the male gaze that pervades his writing. Her performances supplement the Museum of Fine Art’s ongoing exhibit, “Casanova’s Europe: Art, Pleasure, and Power in the 18th Century,” which recreates the infamous traveler’s surroundings with more than 250 paintings, sculptures, drawings, textiles and instruments. Watch their worlds collide when Janice performs at the MFA on September 21. / Jenni Todd
