Company One’s latest production comes with stage directions for the audience: Start your night with cocktails and eye candy at Gallery Kayafas, the South End spot that’s hosted cutting-edge photography for more than a decade. Then head downstairs to Matter & Light, a destination for contemporary art that opened in April. It’s also serving as the stage for Really, Jackie Sibblies Drury’s intimate drama set in the studio of a charismatic photographer, absent from the scene, whose mother and girlfriend are sorting through the images he left behind. Receiving its New England premiere and running through March 4, the play explores the limits of art and the truths a camera can’t capture—but with just 45 seats, you’re guaranteed a good vantage point.
