Prefer thrills and chills of the sonic variety? While the crowds are traipsing to the bars dressed as sexy Ken Bone, instead spend Halloween night with Tegan and Sara, who are headlining an All Hallows’ Eve show at the House of Blues. Somehow, we doubt the Canadian synth-pop duo will have any trouble filling a holiday house—their June-released eighth studio album, Love You to Death, is so good, it’s scary. The identical twin sister act have been steadily building a dynamo career for almost two decades, honing an infectious electro-pop sound marked by slick beats, interwoven call-and-repeat vocals and wry lyricism, like that of Love You to Death’s breakout banger “Boyfriend,” a love song that finds the duo bemoaning a girl who can’t decide if she wants to be a friend or a lover. Get your tricks and your treats when the sisters slay at the House of Blues on Oct. 31.
