The Run AMOC! Festival from the new American Modern Opera Company (AMOC, as in “amuck”—to behave disruptively) hopes to shatter the horned-helmet cliches of opera past with collaborative works that are unexpected and wild. The four-day festival features three interdisciplinary pezrformances, including a dialogue between dancer Bobbi Jene Smith (the subject of Bobbi Jene, which snagged the Best Documentary award at the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival) and violin virtuoso Keir GoGwilt in A Study on Effort as well as an abstract music-theater memorial to victims of recent police brutality in Were You There. Get wild when the festival hits Harvard Square on Dec. 15-18. / Nathan Tavares
