There and Then

Get a breath of fresh air at Alpha Gallery’s latest installation, There and Then, a group of oil paintings spanning a decade of the late Jon Imber ’s career. This pastoral collection was born from Imber’s residency in County Mayo, Ireland, where the Somerville artist spent some time at the early part of this century, the scene inspiring striking landscapes. The exhibit also highlights his work exploring the shoreline of Maine, depicted through his signature loose brushwork and quick strokes that create expressionist small towns and river bends, such as in Two Pines, Dow Ledges (seen above).
