Professional bona fides: I do research and development for a sequencing lab in Kendall Square. My job is to figure out how to make our lab processes better, faster and cheaper, so we can sequence more samples, providing researchers with large data sets. I’m in the process of getting my master’s degree in biotechnology.
To stay fit: I love running. I ran cross-country in high school and college. I ran the Newburyport half-marathon last fall for my dad’s 60th birthday. I used to teach yoga and I’m trying to find more time for it now. I’ve also gotten really into spinning recently. It’s a great workout when the weather isn’t ideal for running outside.
Hobbies: I’m in the process of getting scuba certified and also trying to learn Spanish in my free time.
Special skills: I’m a pretty decent cook. My specialty is a gluten-free, cauliflower crust pizza.
Celebrity crush: I used to have a huge crush on Tom Welling during his Smallville days. No one else comes to mind, so I guess I never really moved on.
Physical trait that drives you crazy in a good way: There’s something about broad shoulders and a muscular back.
Worst trait: I’m an awful singer, but that doesn’t stop me from singing or rapping loudly, and I usually get the lyrics wrong—especially during car rides.
First date M.O.: I know a first date is going well if I’m comfortable enough to show my weird, quirky side. I might as well let my date know what he’s getting himself into.
Most romantic place in the world: Oddly enough, being at the beach where I grew up is the most intimate and special place for me. There’s no place in the world like it, and being able to share that experience with someone else is really special.
