On Thursday, Oct. 20, St. Anthony Shrine, located on Arch Street in Downtown Crossing, celebrated its inaugural Franciscan dinner at the Seaport Hotel. The Franciscan Friars honored Jim O’Connell, president and founder of Boston Health Care for the Homeless, with the Pope Francis Award for his service to the poorest in our community. Gov. Charlie Baker, Mayor Marty Walsh and Cardinal Sean O’Malley were present to personally thank O’Connell and the friars for their collective efforts to minister to the needs of Boston’s poor.
