DON’T FORGET TO CHECK OUT THE REST OF OUR SPRING PREVIEW!
A frequent contributor to Inside Amy Schumer sketches, comedian Nikki Glaser is now headlining her own Comedy Central show, Not Safe with Nikki Glaser, premiering hour-long special Perfect on April 9 and hitting Laugh Boston for her stand-up tour on May 6-7. But first, we caught up with her for “the talk.”
HAVE YOU ALWAYS BEEN COMFORTABLE TALKING OPENLY ABOUT SEX? It’s just been something that came very naturally to me. … I don’t understand why people don’t want to talk about it, because it’s so damn interesting and so funny and weird and it’s all I want to talk about.
YOUR SHOW IS CALLED NOT SAFE. WHAT’S THE MOST UNSAFE THING YOU’VE EVER DONE? The thing is, I’m such a safe person. I am the most cautious and very wary of everything. My first word as a child was “dangerous.” … I was a terrified child, so that’s part of the reason now that I go out on the limb and try different things.
ON YOUR SHOW, YOU’VE GIVEN YOUR PARENTS A LIE-DETECTOR TEST ABOUT THEIR SEX LIFE, FED DIALOGUE TO PORN STARS—DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE SEGMENT? I like discovering new worlds. I went to a foot fetish party…I like going into situations where I’d be scared to go in normally. But now that I have a show, with a whole crew with cameras, I get to go into these situations. … So I kind of like going and interviewing these people about their sex lives and not being scared to ask these questions and get in there and dip my toe in, so to speak.
