This upscale South End pizzeria is always packed, and not just for its great pies with lightly charred, bubbly thin crusts. Picco’s housemade ice creams and sorbets are equally fantastic, the dozen or so deceptively simple flavors (like banana, ginger, coffee, cinnamon and dark chocolate) achieving sublime depth with a soft, gelato-like texture that melds wonderfully in mixed scoops, frappes and sundaes. With ice cream this good, you can forgive Picco its eternally exasperated, hipper-than-thou service.
