It’s been a while since Boston had a seafood place as formal and elegant as this compact spot perched high above Park Square. In addition to white-tablecloth service and superb wines, Mooncusser can lay claim to the city’s subtlest and dreamiest clam chowder: pristine littlenecks in the shell, chopped clams, bits of smoked scallop and skate, and crescent moon-shaped oyster crackers in a delicate, not overly dairy-dosed broth. Shore food in black-tie togs turns out to be an awesome idea.
