In the dark days before 2016, Boston lacked a deli that made its own Jewish soul-food classics in-house. Then came Mamaleh’s, preparing pastrami, corned beef, knishes, latkes, lox, chopped liver and babka. While America’s real-deli population is shrinking, Boston got a place that does proper pickled herring and bialys served with a side of love, and if you like, a nice cocktail. New York should be so lucky.
