Will Dailey’s first album since splitting with a major label finds the singer/songwriter at a career high. Funded by fans through Pledge Music, National Throat debuted in the top 20 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart, thanks to Dailey’s thoughtful, emotive lyricism and folksy hooks. Alternating between introspective soul and kick-in-the-teeth rock ’n’ roll, National Throat has the newly liberated Dailey flexing his artistic muscles in confident protest of an industry he’d found increasingly restrictive. Free falling never sounded so secure.
