The third annual NMO Awareness Gala took over the Mandarin Oriental on March 24. Inspired by traditional Bollywood films, the gala benefitted the Sumaira Foundation for NMO, a charity founded in 2014 by Boston University alum Sumaira Ahmed after she was diagnosed with neuromyelitis optica. Two hundred guests enjoyed dancing, dinner and a raffle, raising $40,000 toward a study to use immune tolerance to prevent NMO attacks and retrain the immune system.
