Price: $12
Ingredients: Triple Eight blueberry vodka, simple syrup, fresh-squeezed lemon, mint
Inventor: Manager Eli Shapiro
Flavor: “Like a light, refreshing blueberry mojito, except it’s vodka. It’s a little sweet, a little sour; it goes down easy,” Shapiro says. “I could probably drink about 11 of them before I start getting weird.”
Pair it with: The Shellfish Platter ($45)—and the view. Admire the city skyline from the 32-seat roof-deck or take a seat at the downstairs patio. Even when you’re sitting with your back to the harbor, you can drink in the view from the mirror behind the bar.
Get It While It’s Hot: For another proper summer send-off, try Shapiro’s version of a Long Island Iced Tea: the Captain’s Iced Coffee ($12). Or help break in Pier 6’s new frozen drink machine by trying an Italian Ice ($13), with lemonade punched up by vodka and amaretto. We suggest heading there before the temperatures drop, but if you miss the boat, Shapiro is already working on the fall drink menu—the Charlestown restaurant is open year-round.
Philosophy: For Shapiro, who’s worked at a dozen local bars, it’s the little things that count: “I take care of people the way I would like to be taken care of when I go out. We have a bunch of regulars here. They all know my name, I know what they drink, and that’s it.” If you prefer your margarita served in a martini glass, and a bartender who remembers that, he’s your guy.
