A century of improving mental health for the kids of Massachusetts is certainly worth toasting, but the Hopes and Dreams Gala to benefit the Judge Baker Children’s Center did so in rare style.
Symphony Hall was decked out more beautifully than ever for the centennial celebration, with giant triangular topiaries wrapped in a swirl of white butterflies soaring toward the rafters. The rarefied crowd, meanwhile, included the likes of keynote speaker Patrick Kennedy, honoree Dick Glovsky and his radiant wife, Hilary, staunch supporter Dorothy Weber, former first couple Deval and Diane Patrick, Berkshires yoga guru Susan Parsley, uber-philanthropists Cindy and Oliver Curme, Chestnut Hill doyenne Roberta Cohn, distinguished doctor Bruce Auerbach and his lovely wife, Robin Richman, the formidable Lorraine Bressler, dapper entrepreneur Hillel Bachrach, co-host Robin Young, and one woman who said, “I’ve been on this board since before my menopause set in.”
However, the evening’s best remark was: “I’m an M.D. That stands for ‘Missus Doctor.’ ” ◆
