The party—aimed at transforming the park that separates Back Bay and Kenmore Square from a depressing underpass into delightful greenspace—attracted such denizens and devotees as blue blooded do-gooders George and Claudine Lewis, the indefatigable Daria McLean, brunette babe Christine Di Carlo, expectant dad Josh Zakim, the smile-inducing Matthew Ginsburg, champion dog breeder Pam Beale, real-estate pixie Maureen O’Hara, convert to the cause Debbie Perry, Muddy Water curator Caroline Reeves, sexy young couple Helene Vincent and Alice Lin, and others of an equally rarefied ilk.The redheaded stepchild of Frederick Law Olmsted’s Emerald Necklace is finally getting some love, thanks to the Charlesgate Alliance, which hosted an autumnal fundraiser in one of the neighborhood’s most historic and beautiful buildings.

A jazz duo played and luscious little edibles were served, while Moscow mules and Cape Codders were dispensed, and lots of people oohed and aahed over the historic Arts and Crafts tiles lining the lobby.

Overheard exchange:

“Now that we’ve met, it’s all downhill from here.”
“Let’s see who can get to the bottom first.” ◆
