New to Brookline Village, artsy cafe The Middle Gray has a veritable rainbow of offerings, including coffee and tea, beer, a refreshing workspace, an art gallery, a performance venue and a largely South American menu—including a superb breakfast sandwich. It’s a thin, pita-like arepa griddled to order and stuffed with shredded brisket, crumbles of homemade cheese that fall somewhere between squeaky curds and queso fresco, beautifully fluffy scrambled eggs, scallions and a savory-sweet tomato sauce. The hearty combo is as unique as it is satisfying, and tastes even better with a dash of hot sauce.
