Brother-and-sister team Edward and Shawn Wilson grew up in Texas, so the idea of opening a BBQ joint was always in the back of their minds after introducing their Viga locations throughout town. Shed’s BBQ, which opened in Downtown Crossing earlier this year, fulfills those dreams and fills the plates of customers with a variety of smoked meats available in a sandwich, platter or bowl. “What we want to do is take the barbecue we grew up with and introduce it with a healthy kick—so you can also have it in a bowl,” Shawn says. If you’re looking for a guilty pleasure, try the two-meat platter that can include sliced brisket smoked for seven-and-a-half hours as well as another meat such as pulled pork or Texas hot links. It comes with cornbread and a choice of two sides such as pepper jack-loaded mac-and-cheese and baked beans with some brown sugar and caramelized onions for a touch of sweetness. And don’t forget to add the traditional Texas dipping sauce made with the brisket drippings for some extra kick.
