Fired Up

The new Renegade’s Pub in Eastie loads its fries up with generous toppings

Sound the alarm: The Engine 56 Fries at the new Renegade’s Pub in Eastie, which opened in mid-May in the vacant space that housed the old Victory Pub, pack some heat. And aptly so, as they’re named for the longstanding Engine 56 firehouse down the road. The heaping pile of fries comes topped with generous chunks of smoked bacon, fried jalapenos, the pub’s signature Renegade sauce and blue cheese from Marion’s Great Hill Dairy Farm. As for what’s in that tangy housemade sauce, the recipe is staying a secret. But, “One thing I will say is there’s no ketchup in it,” says partner Greg Weinstock.
