Sunny Boy is a new concept for BiNA Family Hospitality (which recently shuttered Merrill & Co.) and for Washington Square, where simple, solid breakfast and lunch fare has been missing. The cafe stands out by doing all of its baking in-house, and the most impressive product might be the whole-wheat sandwich loaf used in the turkey club. Thick-cut, soft and nutty, it’s substantial enough to stand up to the filling (house-roasted turkey, thick-cut bacon, avocado spread) and reminds you how good fresh-baked sandwich bread can be.
