“I’m more of a savory person myself,” says David “Woody” Wood, general manager of NOCA Provisions, a new sibling of the Table at Season to Taste that opened last month in North Cambridge. But he’s still a fan of the cafe’s sweet toast, which features a fresh chèvre spread topped with toasted almonds and a seasonal jam—currently housemade peach compote. Options for the bread, all of which are baked daily at nearby Season to Taste, include a country sourdough and a popover, but Wood recommends the heritage multigrain bread made with bolted whole wheat and red fife flour. “It pairs well with the multigrain because the multigrain has a little bit of honey in it,” he says. Sweet.
