The double mesquite doors of Lolita Cocina & Tequila Bar’s new Fort Point spot lead to a moody interior that’s steeped in Old Spanish style. The same dramatic flair is infused in the pulpo ajo taco—all at once salty, creamy and spicy. Only available at the Summer Street location, the taco served in a housemade flour tortilla features seared octopus, jalapeno crema, cilantro and crispy shallots that zing with a spice blend. “I was visiting the Deep Ellum neighborhood in Dallas a few weeks before we opened and had killer octopus tacos at Revolver Taco Lounge,” says Tom Berry, culinary director for COJE, which also operates Back Bay’s Lolita and the newly opened Matadora in Woburn among other Boston hotspots such as Yvonne’s. “That’s when we decided we had to have a Lolita version, especially considering how much octopus is a hit at our sister restaurants.”
